Augburg Feels Like Home for Rheinisch - 04 July 2008
Eoin Rheinisch made the top 10 in qualification at the third race in the 2008 World Cup series. Over the years he has found this course to be a fertile hunting ground in the past. Ciaran Heurteau placed just outside the top 20 also putting him into tomorrows semi-finals and both our Women's paddlers also qualified in 32nd and 37th position for Helen Barnes and Hannah Craig. Heurteau takes Sixth in Tacen World Cup - 29 June 2008
2012 aspirant Ciaran Heurteau took 6th in the final of the World Cup race in Tacen. Showing remarkable mental toughness he was the only paddler to go faster on second runs moving him up from 10th position. Local Peter Kauzer won on the difficult course which had been unlucky for Eoin Rheinisch who finished in 31st place. Our womens team had their best ever results with Hanah Craig in 16th and Helen Barnes in 18th positions. Next weekend the team competes in Augsburg, Germany, site of the 1972 Olympic slalom event.

Rheinisch easily through to Semi-finals - 28 June 2008
With 42 days to go to the Beijing Olympics Eoin Rheinisch finished a superb 12th in qualifiers today on the river Sava, Slovenia. Ciaran Hearteau produced an excellent second run to take 20th position in the field of 60 boats. Hannah Craig and Helen Barnes in WK1 also qualified in 15th and 32nd place respectively for tomorrows semi-final and finals.

Wild-Water Racing AGM - 26 June 2008
The AGM will be held on the 25th of July at 8pm at the ICU offices. The Junior team for the European Championships comprisig 8 paddlers will soon depart for the river Adda, Italy. You can follow their progress here and the final World rankings for our Senior team are now available.

Three Make Semi-Finals in Prague
Eoin Rheinisch, Ciaran Hearteau and Helen Barnes all made the semi-finals at Prague Canoe-Slalom World Cup. Eoin, our Beijing competitor, finished just outside the top 10 with Ciaran taking 24th and Helen in 29th position in the Womens K1 class. TOP 20 for Irish in Wildwater Worlds - 09 June 2008
The Irish Team of Liz Shouldice (Women's K1), Keith McGuirk and Tadhg MacIntyre (both C1) all finished in the top 20 at the World Championships in Ivrea, Italy. Liz and Tadhg were 18th in the classic and sprint respectively, with Keith in 20th place in the 6k classic less than 10% behind the winner.

Youth Adventure Kayaking - French Alps 2008
There are two places still available on the ICU Youth Adventure Kayaking trip to the French Alps from the 23 to the 28 June 2008. This trip is aimed at young paddlers aged between 16 and 20. The week long trip promises to combine adventure, fun and kayak development in the ideal setting of the French Alps. The trip is priced at €600 excluding transport costs. Eoin Rheinisch achieves Olympic Athlete Standard - 09 May 2008
It is official !!! Eoin Rheinisch has achieved the Olympic Athlete Qualifcation Standard and secured a place at the Beijing Games in August subject to ratification by the Olympic Council of Ireland. A full press release will be issued shortly. The ICU Board would like to take his opportunity to congratulate Eoin and all his support crew following a long and tough campaign to achieve this outstanding result.

Salmon Leap 10K Series - 08 May 2008
The Salmon Leap 10k race series will be on every Wednesday till the week before the Liffey Descent. Seniors 10k (4 laps) and Juniors 5K (2 laps) and all craft welcome. Entries before 1830 and Start is at 1900hrs.
